What is GeoGuessr?
GeoGuessr is a geography game in which players try to work out locations from Google Street View images. The game offers different modes, such as single-player and multiplayer. It has been described as an educational tool for geography that lets players learn to identify various geographical and cultural features around the world, including writing systems, architecture, left- and right-hand traffic, flags, licence plates, landscapes and vegetation. This educational side deepens the understanding of different cultures and regions across the globe.
The main goal of the Competition is to popularise geographical sciences and spread knowledge about the world, cultures and regional and administrative diversity, with a particular focus on the Lesser Poland Voivodeship
Developing participants’ topographic skills, orientation and advanced spatial analysis based on landscape and architectural details
Encouraging critical thinking, logical reasoning and quick adaptation and decision-making under time pressure
Shaping and promoting good social attitudes, especially absolute honesty in competition, respect for the opponent and acting in line with the rules of Fair Play
Bringing school communities together and fostering healthy competition among secondary school students across the voivodeship
Spreading knowledge of cultural studies, cultural anthropology and national and global heritage by helping participants identify and interpret local cultural assets, architectural traditions, state symbols and the linguistic and cultural diversity of the world’s regions
